What is a ShutterCamp?
A ShutterCamp is a getting together of photographers at all levels to share knowledge, learning, experience and enhance mutual quality. It is an easy mixture of the rookie who is still struggling to find the shutter, to the nonchalant pro who clicks with his eyes blindfolded :P (am sure we'd love to see some of those too) and anyone else in between with varying degrees of expertise and knowledge.
Its FREE and its LEARNING and its SHARING and its AMAZING.
Its a free for all sharing exercise, designed to bring the photography community in Mumbai together for a span of time.
We'll go all out to get pros in Mumbai to this event, and also to get equipment guys to come over with equipment that they can demo to us. Here's to all of us participating in the largest every ShutterCamp (BARCAMP for Photographers) that India would have ever seen.

Venue
To be finalized. We need someplace that can accommodate around 150+ number of people. Suggestions, offers etc welcome?
Typically we're looking for somplace that also has a huge number of outdoor / indoor shoot ops, without being gawked at by people who ain't a part of this.
Recd three possible venues that could support our requirements of 150+ people
1) IIT / IDC (Powai) - seems to be an all-time favourite in terms of campus, amenities, and so on.
2) SPJAIN / Bhavans College (Andheri) ... Nice campus, good amenities
3) Somaiya College (Ghatkopar) ... 2 suggestions so far. Don't know much about it.
Dates
Guess this will happen, soon as we get the venue in place. We'd love to do this in mid FEB upto EARLY MARCH sometime.
Tasks
We need a load of things done for this to work, including:
1) Someone / Many who can maintain this wiki
2) Design Logo / Banners / Etc
3) Help Manage Venue, Members, Details, other logistics

I have a feeling, with a right plan, this can be turned to an event wherein sponsors like the Canon, Nikon or the Kodaks can be roped in as well. Even if they are'nt there it makes sense to try this out.
Venue suggestion: How about outdoor trip? There are people in Mumbai who organize Trekking trips (nominal fee charged). A dialogue can be initiated with them to explore more.

the concept of a trip takes away a lot of the audience. It takes away networking, it brings in logistical nightmares of the highest order. While your concept is good, we'd love to do the first barcampin Mumbai for starters, at a place with huge photo opps, and avoid logistical nighmares. (there will be a huge amount as it is)
And yes, initiating connects with Canon, Sony, Kodak. If you have concrete leads, please do pass them on
